REVIEW:Guardians of the Galaxy

The move starts with quite a sad story. A young Peter Quill is listening to his walkman in the hospital when an older man comes to get him. He walks in to a hospital room where his mother lay dying. After she passes he runs out side distraught and is abducted. The story then jumps to 28 years later.

Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) , now an adult has landed on a strange planet. He turns on his walkman and starts dancing his way past some evil looking creatures that look a bit like mutated mice and grabs an orb. He doesn’t realise at the time but this orb is wanted by an evil villain called Ronan (Lee Pace). An assasin called Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Gun mad Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and a treelike-humanoid called Groot (Vin Diesel) are Bounty hunters who try to take the orb from Peter and in the process get arrested and thrown in jail.

This is where they meet Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista). Ronan killed is wife and child and he is out for revenge. Gamora was sent to get the orb from Peter by Ronan but she decided to double-cross him and sell the orb to a third party so Rocket, Groot, Peter and Gamora decide to break out of prison. Drax the Destroyer helps them and ends up leaving with them.

Once they all realise what the orb really is and the power that it holds they have to fight to keep it out of Ronan’s hands.

This unlikely group of misfits are just a great mix. The actors they chose to play the parts were spot on. The chemistry between them is great and although we all know its fiction I cannot get over how great and realistic the special effects are!!! The amount of detail they put in to Groot and Rocket down to every hair and eye movement. It is amazing.

I absolutely loved this film and would highly recommend it! I haven’t really seen the work of Pratt, Bautista and Saldana but I am definitely intrigued now. Finding out Vin Diesel was Groot and Bradley Cooper was Rocket just made me chuckle!!

It had great highs, some emotional moments, really funny scenes and just overall a great film.  I have to say though that my favourite character was Groot despite the fact he had very limited vocabulary he was endearing and the way they showed him portraying emotion was just amazing.

5 out of 5 from me… wish i could give it more
